The importance of the correct mesh size for your project:

When it comes to sandblasting abrasives many people in the industry underestimate the importance of using the correctly sized grains for the job.

Firstly it's important to understand what the mesh size means.

That is, what's the 3060 versus an 80 mesh?

(These numbers refer to the physical size of an abrasive particles as they relate to a linear inch.)

30 mesh means you've have 30 abrasive particles in in a row. And they'll take up an inch in a row.

So the higher the number, the smaller abrasive particle the same as sandpaper.

So for example if we have a 3060. This means that all the abrasive particles are supposed to be in that size range between 30 mesh and 60 mesh. This will mean that the branding particles make a large impact on your project results.

The larger the particle, typically, the larger the profile you'll create.

And if you create too much profile, you'll be wasting paint.

Other points to consider are the consistency of the particle sizes. More consistently results are the better you can measure them in the abrasive metering valve saving you money.

Some are named ie, Medium or New Steel or GX2.

What this means is we simply recommend that you always talk to one of our consultants before you make an order.

This will allow you to obtain the perfect abrasive for your project so that you are not wasting money and time.
